NAOI 2011 - Training and Volunteer Opportunities

May 7-8, 2011 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Wilderness First Aid/First Responder Recert. Fox Run Lodge, Palmer, Alaska; Sign Up Now. This is a SOLO certification course for those that lead small groups in low-risk situations or anyone that wants to learn basic wilderness medicine. Cost: WFA $250 - $285 WFA with Heart Saver+CPR, $265 WFR Recert - $315 WFR Recert with Heart Saver+CPR.

May 11-13; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily - Campbell Creek Science Center. Outdoor Week.Youth program that teaches outdoor survival skills. Learn more or sign up at the Campbell Creek Science Center: Learn More Now!

May 21; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily - Meadow Lakes Bicycle Rodeo. Family-Friendly bicycle training program. Learn to ride on and off-street. Sponsored by the Meadow Lakes Community Council.

June 11, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Big Lake Block Party - Family-friendly community training for safe outdoor activities including water safety, trails, navigation, wilderness medicine and more. This party is free and open to the public thanks to the support of the Alaska Division of Parks and Big Lake FireWise and Emergency Services.
